GREENVILLE, S.C. – Katie Allison of Belmont Abbey and Emma Hughes of King have earned the weekly honors for Conference Carolinas softball.
Allison has been tabbed as the Player of the Week, while Hughes earned Pitcher of the Week plaudits. The conference office unveiled the weekly awards on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2020.
A junior from Charlotte, N.C., Allison was perfect at the plate last week in Belmont Abbey’s doubleheader sweep of St. Augustine’s. Allison was 6-of-6 at the dish with five runs scored and three RBIs. She also had two stolen bases and one triple.
A senior from Rogersville, Tenn., Hughes pitched two complete-game gems last week in going 2-0 on the week. She first struck out nine and allowed just three hits in a 3-1 King win at Virginia-Wise on Feb. 22. Hughes followed that up by fanning five and allowing just four hits in a 1-0 shutout win over Milligan. Overall, she struck out 14 and walked just three in her 14 innings in the circle.

Conference Carolinas has a rich tradition in roots that dates back to its early initial inception on Dec. 6, 1930. The NCAA Division II athletics conference presently has member schools located in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.
