AUSTIN, Texas – Carolina Lucci continues to put herself in rarified air not only on the pitch but in the classroom as well being named First Team CoSIDA Academic All-American selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Tuesday afternoon.
After being selected as an Academic All-American, Carolina Lucci has done something no other Chowan student-athlete or Conference Carolinas’ Women’s Soccer student-athlete has ever accomplished. Lucci sits alone as the only student-athlete to have accomplished being Conference Carolinas Player of the Year, Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year, Four-time First Team All-Conference selection, D2CCA All-American, and Academic All-American.
The senior from Monaca, Pennsylvania was selected as a First Team Academic All-American after being chosen for the First Team Academic All-District 3 in June. Lucci has scored 39 goals and added 14 assists to her career while boasting a 3.94 grade-point average while majoring in Exercise Science.
Carolina Lucci joins only Allie Kolezynski (softball) to have been named CoSIDA Academic All-American.
The Academic All-America teams are selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).The Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2020-21 Division II Academic All-America® program.
Based on the absence of most fall sports competition, the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Committee revised some rules and procedures for nominating student-athletes this season. Due to the low percentage of games completed this season, the nominees were selected based on career statistics and achievements.
